Accounting Intern, Compliance - Summer (2)

The GPC Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable (APAR) Center is offering an exciting Accounting, APAR Compliance Internship to an undergraduate level student. This Internship is designed to prepare students for a position in a corporate environment upon graduation. The Internship is designed for students to attain professional skills and experience while assisting in the day-to-day functions within a corporate Shared Services Center. Interns will be placed within the GPC APAR Center.
The Intern will be responsible for assisting with multiple projects in any function, process, or business unit within the Company. While the Intern will report through the GPC APAR Center, throughout the internship, the Intern will be exposed to several other departments within the organization and may be required to assist in other areas as necessary.
Junior level or higher actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Overall grade point average of at least 2.75
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel)
Possess confidence, flexibility and be a team player
Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and prioritize work
Excellent data entry and 10 key skills (accuracy and speed a must)
Above average research and resolution skills
Demonstrated intermediate accounting ability
Strong math aptitude and analytical ability
Excellent verbal (including phone etiquette and effective listening) and written communication skills with both external and internal customers and GPC management.
Excellent customer service skills
Demonstrate complaint handling skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Self-starter, able to work in fast paced environment
Strong work ethic and a self-motivation skills
Strong PC/Excel Knowledge
Possess a willingness and ability to learn new concepts, methodologies, and tools
Be goal oriented, committed and persistent to carry out assigned duties
Ability to handle stressful situations
Daily maintenance, administration and troubleshooting of existing systems (i.e. voucher maintenance)
Daily, weekly and monthly maintenance, administration, troubleshooting and reporting of APAR’s KPIs
Investigate, research and report department’s procedural/ process related obstacles, challenges and discrepancies
Help perform acceptance testing on operational system enhancements as required.
Gather business requirements for new Service Now forms or changes to existing forms, develop and test forms for implementation.
Complete data integrity checks daily and report findings as needed
Assist auditors and business partners with data requests
Complete quality audits for AP, AR and Solutions Center monthly
Maintain co-operative working relationships with all APAR departments and external business partners
GL reconciliations as needed
Update Blackline, Promapp and other applications as needed
Other duties as assigned
