Accounting Intern, Business Process Improvement - Summer

The GPC Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable (APAR) Center is offering an exciting Accounting, Business Process Improvement Internship to an undergraduate level student. This Internship is designed to prepare students for a position in a corporate environment upon graduation. The Internship is designed for students to attain professional skills and experience while assisting in the day-to-day functions of business process improvement within a corporate Shared Services Center. Interns will be placed within the GPC APAR Center.
The Intern will be responsible for assisting with multiple projects in any function, process, or business unit within the Company. While the Intern will report through the GPC APAR Center, throughout the internship, the Intern will be exposed to several other departments within the organization and may be required to assist in other areas as necessary.
Junior level or higher actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Overall grade point average of at least 2.75
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel, Access, and Visio)
Possess confidence, flexibility and be a team player
Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and prioritize work
Familiarity with Accounting principles (GL, AP, AR)
Experience in PeopleSoft a plus
Above average research and resolution skills
Demonstrated intermediate accounting ability
Strong math aptitude and analytical ability
Excellent verbal (including phone etiquette and effective listening) and written communication skills with both external and internal customers and GPC management.
Excellent customer service skills
Demonstrate complaint/conflict handling skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Self-starter, able to work in fast paced environment
Strong work ethic and a self-motivation skills
Strong PC/Excel Knowledge
Possess a willingness and ability to learn new concepts, methodologies, and tools
Be goal oriented, committed and persistent to carry out assigned duties
Ability to handle stressful situations
Responsible for planning and directing project initiatives to successful completion of target goals.
Participates in the gap analysis and solution building of business process improvements
Directs cross functional business teams to identify and evaluate new opportunities
Acts as a liaison between internal and external partners.
Manages projects by creating and maintaining detailed project plans; coordinates project activities, documents project requirements, documentation, procedures and processes.
Drives projects to successful completion through the development, testing, implementation and training phases.
Identifies and resolves critical issues.
Identifies and implements measurement standards to ensure business objectives are met.
Additional tasks as determined by the BPI leadership team.
